Here is an extract from a letter I have recently received from the satisfied parent of a year 11 English student who writes of the benefits of tutoring:

“We both met with Sara after my son, a shy student, had taken his GCSE exam in English during January 2013, and although the exact grade was not given it was looking like a borderline D.

“After the first two or three sessions with Sara I noticed a complete change in my son. It was his attitude, his body language, there was laughter and he appeared to be even enjoying the sessions.

“He achieved an A* in the essay written following Sara’s guidance, previously a C/D. Overall he achieved a secure C grade – he may have achieved more but school had only entered him for foundation level following his previous attempt – but this gave him the pathway to study his passions for music and art at sixth form.

“Sara’s whole learning environment is totally inspirational, if you meet any member of the household they are totally welcoming. You feel at ease, and like an extended part of Sara’s family. My son was made to feel important.

“I think what Sara did for my son is to believe in him and through her belief he began for the first time to believe in himself and his abilities. Sara is so passionate about her subjects it couldn’t help but rub off!!

“The most important skills that he learned were confidence and techniques that could be applied to many of his subjects. These are skills that he will use in life long education.

“My only regret is that we didn’t meet Sara sooner!”
